M & A...twins separated by two years
My two kids, M & A, are two years apart. You wouldn't know that by looking at them, especially when they're sitting next to each other in the stroller. There is only 2 1/2 inches and 5 lbs. difference as of their last doctor's visit. Pretty impressive! We have a petite little girl and a big boy.
Our daughter M loves to get messy, playing in the dirt and "petting" her worms as she rocks them and calls them her baby. She stands 3 feet tall, and yet you can hear her from any corner or level of our house. She sounds like thunder when she walks, which we attribute to her 4'10" grandma who also walks like thunder. She has an adorable voice and loves to sing, but generally sounds like a stuffed-up mouse.
Our son A, on the other hand, walks around the yard pointing out "yuckies", which generally means any pile of dirt or dew-laden plants. He likes to have a napkin at the table so he can wipe up his messes and is a very clean boy who loves frogs and dogs. He has a grin that is adorable as his two front teeth are rather prominent with a wide gap in between. I called him fang for a while, but now his other teeth are coming in, so the gap is closing. Sigh...
Both kids love to play together and lately have discovered how to make mischief together. There voices sound very similar, so when one of them starts to yell in the car, the other one echos. When one of them screams ear-piercing mermaid sounds in the bath, the other one screams back in the same tone. Now A has started saying "top it", meaning Stop It! So A will say "top it" and his sister M will fire back with "You Stop It!" This of course goes on until I am pulling out my hair and am ready to scream back "Both of you stop it!", but of course I can't say that or they will both start laughing and continue the game. So I am forced to get creative and find any words other than "Stop It!"
Aaaah parenthood. I just have to say that I love "Supernanny". That TV show is eye-opening and really gives some great parenting advice for how to communicate with your children. My hubby and I were skeptical the first time we caught a show, but quickly realized that the tools the nanny gave to the parents made their entire household happier. I don't know about you, but I can always use some good parenting tools, because I find myself going back to the same old methods time and again. It's nice to know that there is another way of doing things, when the old way isn't working.
I'll get pictures up soon of our family. My hubby has started a new hobby: photography. He is getting a new digital camera for Father's Day, which he already picked out. It should come in the mail today. I know that he will be taking tons of pictures of the kids. So stay tuned...
